Modern, fully-equipped campuses for both institutions to be built on 40 acres in Banjari, Nava Raipur
Will offer education and training in forensic science, criminology, investigative research, and forensic psychology along with scientific investigation facilities
Raipur, 22 June 2025 – Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, laid the foundation stone for the buildings of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and National Forensic Science Laboratory (NFSL) today in Banjari village, Nava Raipur. The two premier national institutions will be developed on a 40-acre site with modern, all-inclusive infrastructure. An initial budget of ₹130 crore each has been sanctioned for the construction of both facilities.
The event was also attended by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Arun Sao and Shri Vijay Sharma, Speaker of Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr. Raman Singh, Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam, and Forest and Environment Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap.
The NFSL is one of the most high-tech forensic laboratories in India and its establishment in Chhattisgarh is expected to significantly enhance scientific investigation capabilities in the state. The NFSU, a top national-level institute for forensic education, offers specialized courses in forensic science, investigative science, and criminology. It was declared an Institution of National Importance in 2020.
The foundation of these institutions in Chhattisgarh will make education and training in forensic science, criminology, investigative research, and forensic psychology more accessible in the region.
The ceremony was also attended by Member of Parliament Shri Brijmohan Agrawal, former Governor of Maharashtra Shri Ramesh Bais, MLAs Shri Kiran Dev, Indra Kumar Sahu, Anuj Sharma, and Guru Khushwant Saheb, Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Shri Arun Dev Gautam, senior officials from the Home Department, and local public representatives.
