Chief Minister Participates in ‘Fight Against Global Warming’ Campaign
Raipur, June 12, 2025 – Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today participated in the ‘Fight Against Global Warming’ campaign organized at the Farmers Auditorium of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University.
In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that education is the foundation of development and a crucial pillar for the holistic progress of the nation. He acknowledged the important contribution of private educational institutions in expanding education. Shri Sai reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a developed nation by 2047 can only be realized through active participation from all citizens. To align with this goal, the state government has prepared a Vision Document for a Developed Chhattisgarh, and consistent efforts are being made to accelerate progress in that direction.
Highlighting the state’s journey, the Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh, now celebrating its silver jubilee, has made historic achievements in inclusive development. He pointed out the presence of prestigious national institutes like IIT, IIM, and AIIMS in the state, which are significantly contributing to its growth.
Shri Sai stressed the seriousness of climate change and global warming, describing them as global challenges. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has set a goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070, and significant strides are being taken to reach that target. Chhattisgarh, he said, is advancing rapidly in promoting green energy. Under the state’s new attractive industrial policy, the energy sector alone has received investments exceeding ₹3 lakh crore.
The Chief Minister also mentioned a special afforestation campaign, under which 4 crore saplings were planted last year. The state government will continue with innovative programs like “One Tree in Mother’s Name” and “Peepal for People” to support environmental protection.
He called for fostering environmental awareness among children, enabling them to lay the foundation for a clean, beautiful, and safe future. Praising the teachers and organizers participating in the campaign, he emphasized that only through collective social participation can we ensure pure air, clean water, and a healthy environment. On the occasion, he appreciated the pledge taken by the association to plant 1.1 million Peepal trees in the coming years.
The program was attended by Dr. Girish Chandel, Vice-Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University; Mr. Subodh Rathi, State President of the Private School Operators Association; Mr. Manoj Pandey, Secretary; and other representatives.
Notably, the event was jointly organized by the Chhattisgarh Private School Operators Association and the Chhattisgarh State Cow Protection and Promotion Committee.
