Announcement to Name Convention Centre after Maharani Ahilyabai HolkarDevelopment Projects Worth ₹223 Crores Gifted to Korba District
Raipur, 12 June 2025:Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, during his visit to Korba district today, inaugurated the statue of Lokmata Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar at the Convention Centre and announced that the Centre would be named in her honor. On this occasion, he gifted 66 different development projects worth over ₹223.88 crores to the people of the district.
Chief Minister Sai praised Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore as a benevolent and just ruler. He highlighted her significant contributions to women’s education and empowerment. She also played a key role in renovating and promoting major pilgrimage and religious sites across the country. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also announced plans to make the convention centre fully air-conditioned.
He recalled his previous visit to Korba six months ago, during which he had launched development projects worth over ₹600 crores. Today’s additional projects worth over ₹225 crores are expected to further benefit the residents of Korba district.The Chief Minister also spoke about initiating necessary steps for the establishment of an Aluminium Park in the district. As part of the “One Tree in Mother’s Name” campaign, he planted a sindoor tree on the Convention Centre premises. He also visited a photo exhibition showcasing the life and achievements of Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar. The event was also addressed by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Arun Sao and Industries Minister Shri Lakhansai Dewangan.
Inauguration and Foundation-Laying Highlights:
The key inaugurated projects include:
Tap water supply schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission in 11 villages,
New primary health centers in 3 villages,
New buildings/renovation for Swami Atmanand Hindi Medium Schools,
Installation of 2.4 kW solar power plants in 47 hostels and ashrams.
Key foundation-laying ceremonies included:
100 TPD solid waste management project for Korba Municipal Corporation,
City bus depot-terminal complex under the PM E-Bus Service,
SNCU hall and training hall at the 100-bed hospital,
Water conservation work at Ayodhyapuri pond,
Other projects funded by the District Mineral Foundation Trust and the 15th Finance Commission.
Condolences for Plane Crash Victims
Chief Minister Sai expressed deep condolences and paid tribute to the victims of a plane crash en route from Gujarat to London.
