Raipur, 14 June 2025: The women empowerment schemes run by the Chhattisgarh Government are now yielding tangible results on the ground. A shining example of this is Mrs. Lalmati from Gamharia village in Jashpur district, who has set a powerful example of self-reliance by availing benefits from various government schemes. Through her determination and hard work, she not only created a unique identity for herself but also inspired other women in her village.
Mrs. Lalmati’s journey is a story of transformation from a daily wage laborer to a successful entrepreneur. Her association with the Prajapati Gauri Self-Help Group enabled her to access government schemes under the Bihan (State Rural Livelihood Mission) program. She took a loan through the Department of Industries and started a shuttering plate rental business. Later, in January 2025, she expanded her venture by availing a loan under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana.
Today, Mrs. Lalmati owns over 200 shuttering plates, which she rents out for roofing construction of private buildings and houses being built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Since February 2025, she has earned approximately ₹35,000 to ₹40,000 from this business. Her income continues to grow as construction of several houses under the housing scheme is underway in her village.
Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, Mrs. Lalmati said, “I would not have reached this point without the support of government schemes. The government gave us courage, provided resources, and showed a new path.”
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated, “Our government is firmly committed to making women in rural areas self-reliant and active participants in economic activities. Through initiatives like Bihan, Mudra Yojana, and the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, we are not only providing financial support to women but also equipping them with training, technical assistance, and access to markets. Women like Mrs. Lalmati represent the new socio-economic awakening of Chhattisgarh.”
He added that it is the priority of the Chhattisgarh government to ensure every woman stands on her own feet, lives with dignity, and becomes an inspiration for others.
