Urges Public to Join “One Tree in Mother’s Name” Campaign
Raipur, June 5, 2025 – Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai today attended the closing ceremony of the two-day Budhalpen Karsad and Mandari Festival 2025 held at Sambalpur High School, Karathi in Kanker district as the chief guest. This festival is a significant event aimed at preserving the traditional tribal culture and customs of the region.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister offered prayers to Boodhadev, the revered deity of the tribal community, and prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the state. He said that the festival celebrates the traditions and cultural heritage of our ancestors and helps the younger generation connect with their roots. He congratulated the organizers and highlighted that today also marks World Environment Day. In line with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s initiative “One Tree in Mother’s Name”, he appealed to everyone to plant a tree in honor of their mother.
The Chief Minister announced:
₹25 lakh each for the construction of Gondwana community halls in Bhanupratappur and Durgukondal
₹10 lakh each for the construction of sheds in 12 Parghanas of the Gondwana community
₹5 lakh each for shed construction in 5 circles Construction of a building for Gram Panchayat Sambalpur
He further stated that since the formation of the government in Chhattisgarh, 18 lakh houses have been approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, out of which 3 lakh beneficiaries have already received house allotments from Prime Minister Modi. Various innovative schemes have also been implemented to empower women economically, including the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana, Tendu Leaf Bonus Scheme, Sushasan Tihar, Dharti Aba Gram Utkarsh Yojana, PM Janman Yojana, and the Homestay Scheme.
He informed that to provide banking facilities in rural areas, 1,460 Atal Digital Service Centers (Common Service Centers) have been set up in village panchayats, and similar centers will be opened in every panchayat in the future.
During the event, the Chief Minister handed over a cheque of ₹75 lakh to Collector Shri Nilesh Kumar Mahadev Kshirsagar, as an incentive from the NITI Aayog for development in aspirational blocks. He also honored meritorious students and launched the Mawa Modol Manthan Scheme, which will provide skill-based training to youth based on their interests. He also recognized five TB-free village panchayats of the district.
The event was also addressed by Kanker MP Shri Bhojraj Nag, Antagarh MLA Shri Vikramdev Usendi, Bhanupratappur MLA Smt. Savitri Mandavi, and Kanker MLA Shri Asharam Netam. All speakers praised the festival as a commendable effort to keep tribal culture alive.
A vibrant cultural program was presented under the chairmanship of Shri Harish Chandra Kawde, President of the Gondwana Samaj Coordination Committee, Bhanupratappur. Youths in traditional attire performed folk dances, filling the venue with festive joy.
The event was attended by Zila Panchayat President Smt. Kiran Nareti, Fisheries Welfare Board Chairman Shri Bharat Matiyara, former MP Shri Mohan Mandavi, former MLAs Shri Dewlal Dugga and Smt. Sumitra Markole, senior officials, a large number of villagers, public representatives, and students.
