Kalagram Will Be a Platform for Artists’ Dreams: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai
Chhattisgarh Government to Provide 10 Acres of Land
Raipur, June 5, 2025 — A grand and visually captivating Kalagram (Art Village) will be established in front of Purkhauti Muktangan in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar. For this purpose, the Chhattisgarh Government will provide 10 acres of land free of cost. The decision was taken during the cabinet meeting held on June 4, chaired by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai at the Mahanadi Ministry Building in Nava Raipur.
The initiative aims to promote art, culture, and handicrafts in Chhattisgarh. Responding to a request from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, approval has been granted to allocate approximately 10 acres of land free of cost in Sector-24, Village Uparwara, Nava Raipur.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai stated that the establishment of Kalagram is a historic step toward bringing national and international recognition to Chhattisgarh’s traditional art, culture, and crafts. He emphasized that Kalagram will not merely be a structure, but a platform to fulfill the dreams of artists—helping them showcase their talent and gain livelihood opportunities. The state government aims to connect folk art and handicrafts with the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), giving artists a global stage.
Kalagram will serve as a dedicated center for craftsmen, folk artists, and traditional artisans. It will promote cultural exchange and function as a hub for the creative economy, showcasing the rich heritage of Chhattisgarh through art and culture. All expenses related to construction, operations, and maintenance of the center will be borne by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
It is worth noting that the land identified by the Nava Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority is located directly opposite Purkhauti Muktangan, connected on two sides by main roads, making it an ideal site for Kalagram. As the Development Authority is a self-financed body, the state government will reimburse the premium and land lease charges to the authority.
This decision is expected not only to strengthen Chhattisgarh’s cultural wealth but also to provide a permanent national-level platform for local artisans and craftsmen to exhibit their art.
