On the Commission’s 15th Foundation Day, Police Personnel, Anganwadi Workers, and Girl Students Honoured

Raipur, 17 June 2025 – On the occasion of the 15th Foundation Day of the Chhattisgarh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai launched the ‘Sarthak’ and ‘Rakshak’ campaigns to raise awareness about child rights. Speaking at the event held at Pt. Deendayal Auditorium in Raipur, he highlighted the crucial role of the Commission in spreading awareness about child rights, especially in the remote regions of the state. He expressed confidence that new initiatives like ‘Sarthak’ and ‘Rakshak’ would prove effective in sensitizing the public towards the rights of children.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that education is the foundation of an empowered society. He pointed out that in remote areas of Chhattisgarh, especially in Bastar and Surguja divisions, many children migrate to cities at a young age in search of work, often falling prey to exploitation due to lack of awareness. He stated that it is the responsibility of the Commission to identify such children, connect them with employment opportunities, and ensure they benefit from government schemes.

He added that the state government is implementing several child- and youth-centric initiatives. Schools, colleges, and coaching centers are being established even in villages, and students are being provided with enhanced facilities through efforts like the Prayas and Nalanda campuses, as well as the Tribal Youth Hostel in Delhi.

Mrs. Varnika Sharma, Chairperson of the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, presented a detailed overview of the Commission’s work. The ‘Sarthak’ campaign is aimed at spreading awareness about child rights, while the ‘Rakshak’ campaign focuses on providing detailed information about child protection laws in universities.

During the foundation day celebration, police personnel, anganwadi workers, and girl students who made significant contributions to child rights awareness were felicitated. Additionally, the Commission released its new guideline booklet, the ‘Rakshak’ booklet, and cartoon books based on topics such as Good Touch–Bad Touch–Safe Touch, human trafficking, and the Right to Education.

The event was attended by several dignitaries including MLAs Mr. Sunil Soni, Mr. Purandar Mishra, Mr. Guru Khushwant Saheb, Chhattisgarh Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Mr. Sanjay Srivastava, Waqf Board Chairman Dr. Saleem Raj, as well as numerous public representatives, organizations affiliated with the Commission, and social workers.
