Under CM Vishnu Deo Sai’s Leadership, Chhattisgarh Achieves Historic Mineral Revenue Milestone: Record ₹14,195 Crore in FY 2024–25

Raipur, April 4, 2025:Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai and the guidance of Mineral Resources Secretary Mr. P. Dayanand, Chhattisgarh has set a new benchmark in mineral revenue collection for the financial year 2024–25.The state has earned a record ₹14,195 crore through mining operations, marking an 11% increase—₹1,400 crore more—compared to ₹12,795 crore collected in FY 2023–24.Dantewada Leads in Mineral Revenue ContributionAmong the districts, Dantewada emerged as the top contributor, accounting for ₹6,580 crore. Other notable contributors include Korba with ₹2,148 crore, Raigarh ₹2,027 crore, Balod ₹1,313 crore, Sarguja ₹585 crore, Balodabazar ₹354 crore, Kanker ₹328 crore, and Surajpur ₹155 crore.National Importance in Mineral ResourcesDespite covering just 4% of the country’s total geographical area, Chhattisgarh contributes over 16% to India’s total mineral production value. The state boasts large reserves of iron ore, coal, limestone, and bauxite, which form the backbone of its mineral revenue. In total, 28 types of mineral deposits have been confirmed, including those of strategic importance.Boost from E-Auction SystemSince 2015, the Department of Mineral Resources has allocated mineral blocks through an e-auction process, generating additional revenue in the form of premiums apart from royalties. The rising share of revenue from mines allotted through this transparent mechanism is now clearly evident.Mineral Development Fund Fuels InfrastructureFive percent of the total mineral revenue is allocated to the “Mineral Development Fund,” which supports infrastructure development in remote areas of the state.
