Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Cabinet meeting held today at Mahanadi Bhavan, Mantralaya, witnessed several significant decisions aimed at public welfare and development.1. Exam Fee Refund for Local Candidates:In a move to support students preparing for competitive exams, the Cabinet decided that local candidates of Chhattisgarh appearing for examinations conducted by the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC), Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (Vyapam), and Special Junior Staff Selection Boards of Sarguja, Bastar, and Bilaspur will receive a refund of the examination or interview fee upon attendance.This is expected to increase participation from serious candidates and reduce applications from ineligible or non-serious aspirants, thereby minimizing financial losses to the state.2. VAT Dues Waiver for Small Traders:To benefit small traders, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Chhattisgarh Arrears of Tax, Interest, and Penalty Settlement (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.As per the amendment, VAT dues up to ₹25,000 pending for over 10 years will be waived, benefiting over 40,000 traders and reducing more than 62,000 litigation cases.3. NIFT Campus in Naya Raipur:The Cabinet approved the establishment of a new campus of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Naya Raipur.According to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, the estimated cost of the project is ₹271.18 crore — ₹21.18 crore for land acquisition, ₹200 crore for infrastructure, and ₹50 crore for machinery and furniture.This campus will provide new educational opportunities for youth in fashion education and supply trained human resources to the fashion industry.4. Land Allotment for Bio-CNG Plants:The Cabinet approved concessional lease rates for allotment of government land to set up Bio-CNG plants for processing bio and agricultural waste.The Urban Administration Department and relevant municipal corporations have been authorized to carry forward the implementation.5. Sugar Procurement from Cooperative Sugar Mills:To promote the cooperative sector, the Cabinet decided that sugar for the Public Distribution System (PDS) from April 2025 to March 2026 will be procured from state cooperative sugar mills at a rate of ₹37,000 per ton (ex-factory, GST extra).6. BEML Manufacturing Plant in Chhattisgarh:In a step to boost local employment and support MSMEs, the Cabinet granted in-principle approval for Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) to set up a heavy earth-moving equipment manufacturing plant in the state.For this, 100 acres of land will be allotted at a token rate.
