Balanced Diet, Regular Exercise, and Timely Checkups Are the Key to Disease Prevention: Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

CM Participates in Grand Free Health Camp; Appreciates the Sindhi Community’s Spirit of Service

Raipur, 14 June 2025 – Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai emphasized that good health is the greatest wealth in life. He stated that by maintaining a balanced diet, engaging in regular exercise, and undergoing periodic health checkups, many diseases can be prevented. The Chief Minister was speaking at a grand free health camp organized at Jhulelal Dham on Canal Road in Raipur.

The health camp was held to commemorate the 94th birth anniversary of Baba Gurudas Ram Saheb Ji. It was organized by Pujya Shadani Seva Mandal, Pujya Baba Garibdas Seva Mandal, Pujya Chhattisgarh Sindhi Panchayat, Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha, and Pujya Kandhkot Panchayat, in collaboration with the Health Department. A large number of citizens availed themselves of health checkups and Ayushman cards at the camp, where expert doctors rendered their services.

The Chief Minister noted that due to today’s erratic lifestyles, adulterated food, and increasing pollution, diseases like high blood pressure and diabetes have become common—even among hardworking individuals in rural areas. In such a scenario, organizing health camps like this is a commendable initiative.

Praising the Sindhi community’s dedication to social service, CM Sai said that the community has always been at the forefront of social welfare. He recalled that during his tenure as MP from Raigarh, he frequently participated in various programs organized by the Sindhi community.

He also highlighted that Chhattisgarh has entered its silver jubilee year, during which the state has seen holistic development, including in healthcare. Chhattisgarh is emerging as a medical hub. While there was only one medical college at the time of state formation, there are now 15 medical colleges functioning in both government and private sectors. Several super-specialty hospitals have also been established in the private sector. Additionally, healthcare infrastructure at Primary Health Centers, Community Health Centers, and District Hospitals has been strengthened. Health and Wellness Centers have also been launched.

To ensure quality medical care for citizens, numerous welfare schemes have been launched by both central and state governments. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ayushman Bharat Scheme, free treatment up to ₹5 lakh is provided to the underprivileged. Similarly, all citizens above 70 years of age are eligible for financial aid of up to ₹5 lakh under the Vay Vandana Scheme. The state government’s Mukhyamantri Vishesh Sahayata Yojana offers support of ₹25 to ₹30 lakh for treatment of serious illnesses. Additionally, eligible patients receive financial aid from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund.

Toward the end of the event, Chief Minister Sai felicitated camp coordinator Mr. Amit Chimnani and the doctors who rendered their services during the camp.

Present at the occasion were MLA Guru Khushwant Saheb, Dhamtari Mayor Ramu Rohra, Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh State Child Protection Commission Dr. Varnika Sharma, event coordinator Mr. Amit Chimnani, President of Bharatiya Sindhu Sabha Mr. Ladharam Ji, President of Chhattisgarh Sindhi Panchayat Mr. Mahesh Daryani, along with Sindhi community volunteers, specialist doctors, and a large number of citizens.
