Chhattisgarh Honored by Ministry of Mines, Government of India for Outstanding DMF-related Work

State’s commendable efforts for development and transparency in mining-affected areas receive national recognition

Raipur, 9 July 2025:
The Ministry of Mines, Government of India, New Delhi, has honored the state of Chhattisgarh for its remarkable work under the District Mineral Foundation (DMF). During a one-day National DMF Workshop held at the SCOPE Convention Centre in New Delhi today, Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Mr. G. Kishan Reddy, presented a certificate of appreciation to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister’s Secretary and Secretary of Mineral Resources, Mr. P. Dayanand.

The Ministry maintains a comprehensive DMF-related database of all states through the National DMF Portal under the Pradhan Mantri Khanij Kshetra Kalyan Yojana (PMKKKY). Chhattisgarh was awarded for uploading 90% of its DMF audit reports on both the State and National DMF Portals, showcasing its commitment to transparency and accountability.

Chhattisgarh’s model was presented as an example for other states to emulate in terms of data transparency, ground-level implementation, and timely data uploads.

The National DMF Workshop was organized to enhance the effectiveness of the PMKKKY and DMF and to promote sustainable and inclusive development in mining-affected regions. The event was attended by secretaries, directors, and collectors from mining-affected districts across various Indian states.

Chhattisgarh has been consistently working through DMF to promote inclusive development in mining-affected regions, covering sectors such as education, healthcare, drinking water, infrastructure, and livelihoods. So far, 101,313 development projects have been approved at a total cost of ₹16,506 crore, out of which 70,318 projects have been successfully completed.

The state government follows a transparent and public-welfare-oriented approach in DMF implementation, ensuring that every district’s projects are planned and monitored according to local needs. The policy not only emphasizes physical development but also aims at social empowerment.

Representing Chhattisgarh at the workshop were Mr. P. Dayanand (Secretary, Mineral Resources Department), Mr. Rajat Bansal (Director), and the Collectors and DMF nodal officers from Balod, Balodabazar-Bhatapara, Korba, Raigarh, and Dantewada districts.
