Nano DAP: A Smart Alternative to Conventional DAP Fertilizer for Farmers

Raipur, 08 July 2025 – The Chhattisgarh government is actively ensuring the uninterrupted supply of chemical fertilizers to farmers. In view of the potential shortage of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) during the Kharif 2025 season, the state government has made special arrangements for the storage and distribution of Nano DAP as a practical alternative. Additionally, fertilizers such as NPK and SSP have been stocked in quantities exceeding the set targets. To address the shortage of solid DAP, farmers are being advised by agricultural scientists to use Nano DAP, NPK, or Single Super Phosphate fertilizers as suitable substitutes.

Nano DAP is a modern, cost-effective, and efficient liquid fertilizer that offers greater utility and nutritional value compared to conventional DAP. Scientists from Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, have endorsed the use of Nano DAP, highlighting its role in reducing cultivation costs. It effectively compensates for nutritional deficiencies in the soil and improves crop quality. Moreover, Nano DAP is environmentally friendly.

For example, one acre of paddy typically requires one bag of solid DAP costing around ₹1,350. However, by using a mix of 25 kg solid DAP and 500 ml Nano DAP, the cost reduces to ₹1,275 per acre.

Agricultural experts from the Indira Gandhi Agricultural University have provided detailed guidance on the use of Nano DAP for one acre of paddy cultivation. According to them:

Seed Treatment: For sowing, 30 kg of seeds are treated with 150 ml Nano DAP mixed in 3 liters of water. The seeds are soaked, then dried in the shade for half an hour before planting.

During Transplanting: 250 ml of Nano DAP is mixed in 50 liters of water. Paddy seedlings are soaked in this solution for 30 minutes before transplantation.

Post-Transplant Spray: 30 days after sowing, 250 ml of Nano DAP mixed in 125 liters of water should be sprayed directly on the standing crop to provide essential nutrients.

Nano DAP is a highly effective nutrient provider for crops. Compared to conventional DAP, it is more economical and delivers better results. While a single bag of traditional DAP costs around ₹1,350, a single bottle of Nano DAP can be used for multiple acres. It is applied via spraying, which allows for rapid absorption of nutrients by the plants.

Under the directions of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government has ensured adequate storage of Nano DAP and other alternative fertilizers in cooperative societies. Additionally, training and awareness camps are being organized for farmers to promote its usage. The Agriculture Department has appealed to farmers to adopt Nano DAP, NPK, and SSP as reliable alternatives to traditional DAP.
