Raipur, April 15, 2025:Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has delivered a significant gift to the Bastar region by inaugurating the Chief Engineer’s Office of the Water Resources Department in Jagdalpur today. This new establishment is expected to greatly enhance departmental operations across all seven districts of the Bastar division.

The inauguration marks a pivotal step in streamlining activities such as surveys, DPR (Detailed Project Report) preparation, and technical approvals for water resource and irrigation projects. Previously, these tasks required approvals from Raipur, leading to delays. Now, with the office located at the divisional headquarters in Bastar, work is expected to progress more efficiently and swiftly.Thanks to the special initiative of Water Resources Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, this newly launched office has received budgetary approval for staffing at various levels. Currently, the office is operating from the upper floor of the Indravati Project Division Building, which houses the Superintendent Engineer’s Office in Jagdalpur.The inauguration ceremony was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Shri Vijay Sharma, Water Resources Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Bastar MP Shri Mahesh Kashyap, Jagdalpur MLA Shri Kiran Singh Deo, Chitrakote MLA Shri Vinayak Goyal, Municipal Corporation Mayor Shri Sanjay Pandey, District Panchayat President Smt. Vedmati Kashyap, Finance Commission Chairman Shri Nivas Rao Maddi, and several other public representatives. Key departmental officials including Acting Chief Engineer and Superintendent Engineer K.S. Bhandari were also present along with staff from the Water Resources Department.This initiative is seen as a crucial move toward accelerating irrigation and water infrastructure development in the tribal-dominated Bastar region.
