Electricity bill cut in half, state government offers an additional subsidy of ₹30,000
Raipur, 29 June 2025 – Like in the rest of the country, the Prime Minister Suryaghar Free Electricity Scheme is proving highly beneficial for the people of Bilaspur district. This initiative is not only promoting environmental conservation but is also providing relief from hefty electricity bills during times of rising costs.
Mrs. Anjali Singh, a resident of Ashok Nagar in Bilaspur, has installed a 3-kilowatt solar plant on her rooftop. She shared that the total cost of the plant was ₹1.85 lakh, out of which she received a central government subsidy of ₹78,000.
Before installing the solar plant, her monthly electricity bill ranged between ₹2,500 to ₹3,000. Now, her bill has been cut in half, offering her substantial financial relief. She credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership for encouraging the use of renewable energy and supporting the conservation of natural resources.
Now, the state government is also partnering with the central government to maximize the scheme’s benefits. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the state cabinet has approved an additional subsidy of up to ₹30,000 under the scheme to promote renewable energy and support electricity consumers.
Mrs. Singh added that earlier, power outages caused frequent issues, requiring repeated complaints. Now, with the solar setup, those problems are gone. The system was installed within ten days of application, and she expressed gratitude to the government. She also noted that solar systems are easy to maintain and involve no extra expenses. She recommended the scheme for everyone.
