Charan Paduka Yojana becomes a symbol of dignity and safety

Raipur, 29 June 2025 – Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai today re-launched the ‘Charan Paduka Yojana’ by ceremonially offering footwear to women tendu leaf collectors at Jamgaon in Durg district. More than 12.4 lakh tendu leaf collectors across Chhattisgarh will now directly benefit from yet another guarantee fulfilled by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Chief Minister Sai stated that the government is continuously working to strengthen and safeguard the lives of forest dwellers and tendu leaf collecting families. The ‘Charan Paduka Yojana’ is a gesture of gratitude towards their hardworking hands that toil in tough conditions to collect forest produce.

He highlighted the invaluable contribution of tendu leaf collector families to the state’s economy, forest-produce-based employment, and local prosperity. Their efforts keep Chhattisgarh’s forest traditions alive and provide livelihood to millions of families. The ‘Charan Paduka Yojana’ was a key promise in the government’s manifesto—“Modi Ki Guarantee”—which has now been fulfilled with full commitment. This scheme is not just about distributing footwear; it is a tribute to the dignity and labour of the tendu leaf collectors.

Chief Minister Sai added that through this initiative, the government salutes the relentless efforts of those who walk forest trails to bring prosperity to the state. The administration stands by them in every joy and sorrow and is committed to ensuring dignity and security in their lives.
