Chhattisgarh Tourism Makes a Strong Impression in Kolkata

Raipur, 10 July 2025: A significant milestone was added today in Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai’s efforts to promote tourism in Chhattisgarh. At the ongoing Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF) in Kolkata, the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board showcased the state’s unique and rich heritage with an impressive presence.

Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, Mr. Neelu Sharma, invited Kolkata-based tour operators and travel agents to include Chhattisgarh in their tour packages. On this occasion, Mr. Sharma shared the stage with the Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Mr. Omar Abdullah.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Neelu Sharma expressed pride in representing a rich state like Chhattisgarh on such a prominent national tourism platform. He highlighted the state’s abundant natural beauty, cultural heritage, tribal traditions, historical sites, and spiritual energy. He stated that Chhattisgarh is still referred to as the “Unseen India,” which, according to him, is its greatest strength.

Mr. Sharma promoted key tourist attractions of the state such as Chitrakote Waterfalls, Kanger Valley, Sirpur, Dhudmaras in Bastar, and prominent spiritual sites like Bhoramdeo, Dongargarh, and Dantewada. He urged tour operators and travel agents from West Bengal to include Chhattisgarh in their travel itineraries.

He also mentioned that tourism in Chhattisgarh has now been granted industry status, and several schemes have been launched to promote homestays, resorts, tribal tourism, and wellness tourism. The aim, he said, is not just to promote tourism but also to foster cultural exchange and sustainable development. Mr. Sharma also informed that a permanent information center of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board has been established in Kolkata to offer direct and convenient services to tour operators and tourists from the region. On this occasion, around 50 tour operators and travel agents from Kolkata registered for Chhattisgarh tourism.

Mr. Vivek Acharya, Managing Director of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, presented a detailed overview of Chhattisgarh’s beauty, culture, and future tourism prospects. He also explained the various initiatives and decisions taken by the state government to promote tourism.

During a media interaction, Mr. Neelu Sharma stated, “To understand India, one must know Chhattisgarh. I invite you all to come, experience Chhattisgarh, and connect with the soul of India.”

Present at the event were Deputy Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly Ms. Rajkumari Thapa, Advisor to the J&K Chief Minister Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani, Thailand’s Consul General Ms. Sriporn Tantipanyathep, and more than 500 members of the West Bengal Tour Operators and Travel Agents Association.
