A Compassionate Move by the Chief Minister: ₹1.70 lakh financial aid granted to help Shalu participate in Asia Youth Softball Championship
Raipur, 22 June 2025 – A wave of joy lit up the face of Chhattisgarh’s daughter, Shalu Dahariya, a 12-time national-level softball player, when Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai personally video-called her to offer his heartfelt wishes and the much-needed financial support to fulfill her dream.
Shalu has been selected to represent India at the Asia Youth Softball Championship, scheduled to take place in Xi’an, China, from 14 to 20 July 2025. Out of all the players from Chhattisgarh, only two women were selected for this open tournament — and Shalu is one of them. However, the ₹1.70 lakh required to participate in the international event posed a significant financial challenge for her.
Coming from a humble background, Shalu’s father works as a private security guard and her mother runs a small beauty parlor. Despite financial constraints, Shalu began playing softball in the 8th grade and has since represented the state nationally 12 times, even winning a gold medal.During the video call, Chief Minister Sai told Shalu, “Daughter, move ahead… we all stand with you. Chhattisgarh is proud of you. Play well, my best wishes are with you. Make the country and the state proud.”
He further added that the state government is not just committed to encouraging daughters but also ready to support and uplift them when needed — turning their dreams into reality.
A True Example of Compassionate Governance
Following the Chief Minister’s instructions, Janjgir-Champa Collector Shri Janmejay Mahobe promptly handed over a cheque of ₹1.70 lakh to Shalu and wished her success in the upcoming tournament.
Expressing her gratitude, Shalu’s mother, Mrs. Alka Dahariya, said, “Thanks to the Chief Minister’s compassionate initiative and financial support, my daughter now has the opportunity to participate in an international competition.”
This gesture from CM Sai reflects that the government doesn’t just stop at announcing schemes — it extends a helping hand in moments of real need. The state government is truly committed to empowering daughters and turning their aspirations into achievements.
