Raipur, June 11, 2025 – Once a remote and struggling village caught in the grip of Maoist violence, Mudvendi in Bijapur district has now emerged as a symbol of transformation. Located about 35–40 kilometers from the district headquarters, the village today boasts not only clean drinking water and a paved road, but also the arrival of electricity — a long-awaited light that has finally reached the lives of its residents. This remarkable change has been made possible by the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai and the impactful Niyad Nellanar Scheme.
Home to just 45 families, Mudvendi has witnessed an extraordinary turnaround in recent days. What was once engulfed in darkness after sunset, making even a single step at night fraught with danger, now shines brightly with electric lights. This not only lights up homes but also sparks new hope in the hearts of the villagers.
From Maoist-Affected to Good Governance
For years, Maoist insurgency had kept Mudvendi disconnected from the mainstream development process. But today, the village has begun receiving essential infrastructure — roads, electricity, and water. More than just physical amenities, these changes are visibly impacting the village’s social and educational landscape.
Local resident Mr. Hunra Kunjam shared, “Electricity has reached our village after so many years. Earlier, children couldn’t study after dark. Now they can comfortably continue their studies at night.” He added that threats from snakes, scorpions, and wild animals have also reduced due to the lighting. Thanks to the Niyad Nellanar Scheme, the long-defunct village school has reopened. After a generation-long gap, children can now access education within the village itself — a dream finally realized for many families.
A Joyful Atmosphere and a New Dawn of Hope
Another villager, Mr. Lakhma Kunjam, expressed, “There’s a festive atmosphere in the village since electricity arrived. Household chores can now be done at night, children are studying, and the village feels much safer than before.
Niyad Nellanar Scheme: A Beacon of Hope
Launched by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai to uplift Maoist-affected areas, the Niyad Nellanar Scheme has become a true vehicle for revolutionary change. Beyond infrastructure, it is empowering villagers with a renewed sense of security, trust, and self-reliance. Mudvendi’s transformation shows that when governance is driven by clear intent and effective execution, even the most remote corners can shine with the light of development.
