Review Meeting of Health Department Held Under the Chairmanship of the Chief Minister

Raipur, 05 June 2025 Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has directed all key officials of the Health Department to ensure that medicines reach every individual, especially the last person in the line. He emphasized that AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) offers significant potential for improved treatment in the state, and efforts should be made to expand its reach.

He also stressed the importance of continuously expanding healthcare facilities for the benefit of the general public, ensuring that patients receive quality treatment close to their homes. The Chief Minister was reviewing various schemes of the Health Department today at the state secretariat.

He instructed officials to prioritize the prevention and treatment of diseases like anemia, maternal health issues, and leprosy.

During the meeting, Health Minister Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal informed the Chief Minister that Chhattisgarh ranks 5th in the country under the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) program. He assured that healthcare infrastructure in the state will continue to improve in the coming days. Minister Jaiswal also highlighted the achievements in the health sector since the formation of the new government and presented future plans.

Health Secretary Shri Amit Kataria reported that the state is performing commendably in eliminating diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria. The treatment success rate for TB is 90%, and 100% of TB patients have been notified. Additionally, as of March 2025, 94% of the immunization target has been achieved.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Health Secretary Shri Amit Kataria, Secretaries to the Chief Minister Shri Rahul Bhagat and Shri Mukesh Bansal, Commissioner of Medical Education and AYUSH Department Smt. Shikha Rajput Tiwari, NHM Managing Director and Commissioner Dr. Priyanka Shukla, and Controller of the Food and Drug Department Shri Deepak Agrawal, among other senior health officials.
