Historic Improvements in Education Through Rationalization in the State: Now No School is Without a Teacher

Raipur, 4 July 2025 – The rationalization process has brought significant and positive changes in the education system of the state, aiming to make it more robust and balanced. Prior to rationalization, a total of 453 schools in the state were without any teachers. However, after the rationalization, not a single school remains teacher-less.

Additionally, among the 5,936 single-teacher schools, teachers have now been posted in 4,728 schools, marking a substantial step toward educational reform. This is expected to greatly improve the quality of education and benefit the students studying in these institutions by providing access to better teaching.

In some districts of the Bastar and Sarguja divisions, due to a shortage of teachers, around 1,208 schools still remain with only one teacher. To address this, the state plans to fill the vacancies soon through promotion of headmasters and lecturers, and direct recruitment of about 5,000 new teachers. Once implemented, no school will remain single-teacher, and schools facing teacher shortages will also be adequately staffed.

The rationalization process has been carried out in accordance with the Right to Education Act, 2009, and the National Education Policy, 2020. The previous setup from 2008 at the primary and upper-primary levels has become outdated. Furthermore, disciplinary actions have been taken against officials and staff found involved in any kind of irregularities during this process.
