Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai Gives Private Schools a 7-Day Deadline for Barcode Scanning

Swift Action Taken on Technical Issues in Textbook Distribution Process

Raipur, July 3, 2025 — Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government continues to take effective steps to ensure timely delivery of textbooks to students. In this direction, Shri Raja Pandey, Chairman of the Chhattisgarh Textbook Corporation, informed today that free textbooks are being distributed to all students from classes 1 to 10. The Corporation is fulfilling this responsibility with utmost seriousness.

Shri Pandey stated that based on irregularities observed in the previous academic session, this year, each book has been printed with two barcodes—one to identify the printer and another to track the destination school.

A total of 24.1 million textbooks were printed this year, all of which had been delivered to depots by June 17–18, 2025. Textbooks for classes 9 and 10 in government schools have already reached the schools, and barcode scanning has been completed for 90% of them. Similarly, in Atmanand Schools, distribution is progressing rapidly, with 60% of the books already delivered and the rest expected within a few days.

For private schools, books are being issued from depots only after barcode scanning, unlike previous years when the process was handled through District Education Officers. However, over the past three days, challenges have arisen due to limited storage space at depots and a lack of technical expertise for barcode scanning.

When Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai was informed about these issues—particularly that over 1,100 Saraswati Shishu Mandirs and many other private schools still needed books—he promptly directed that all private schools may collect books from depots as per their district-wise requirement. He also mandated that they must complete barcode scanning at their respective schools within 7 days.

Appreciating this decision, Chairman Shri Pandey said it reflects the Chief Minister’s sensitivity and promptness toward education. This step will ensure that all students can begin their studies on time and that no child is left behind due to a lack of books. Once again, this initiative proves that under the leadership of Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government is working with dedication and vigilance in the field of education.
