Balod, 20 June 2025 In the remote forest region of Dondilohara block in Balod district, Chhattisgarh, a grand vision is about to become a reality – the construction of a magnificent and expansive Mata Kaushalya Dham at Pateshwar Ashram is in its final phase. Shri Ram Balkadas Mahatyagi, head of the Pateshwar Seva Sansthan, informed that the construction of the Dham is nearing completion and it will be officially inaugurated in 2026.
Saint Shri Ram Balkadas shared that this unique and massive temple, being built with contributions from all sections of society, will be the only Kaushalya Dham in the country and the world. The three-story temple is being constructed on approximately four acres of the Pateshwar Ashram premises. On the second floor, a 7-foot-tall idol of Mata Kaushalya holding young Lord Ram in her lap will be installed – a one-of-a-kind depiction globally. The first floor will feature a Shivling, while the third floor will house a statue of Panchmukhi Hanuman. The construction of all three major idols is in its final stage.
Additionally, the Dham will house statues of 108 revered deities and saints from various religions and communities including Agni, Vayu, Sahasrabahu, Kabir, Sant Ravidas, Jhulelal, Karma Mata, and Parmeshwari Mata. This inclusive approach will establish Kaushalya Dham as a center of faith and spiritual harmony for all castes and religions.
The Pateshwar Ashram, located amidst the dense forests and hills of Bada Jungera village in the tribal-dominated region of Dondilohara, is poised to become a spiritual and cultural hub once construction is complete. The Dham is expected to attract large numbers of devotees and tourists.
Spread over an area of approximately 12 acres, Pateshwar Dham is already a major center of Sanatan faith in Chhattisgarh and beyond. Large fairs are held here during Maghi Purnima and Guru Purnima, and daily, numerous devotees visit the site. Also known as Jamdreepaat, the site holds historical and cultural significance and has long been a place of devotion for local tribal communities. Atop the hill within the ashram complex, accessible by 416 steps, lies a sacred site revered by 12 nearby villages and tribal communities, where traditional worship is held on various festivals.
Shri Ram Balkadas also shared that in 1975, his Guru, Raj Yogi Baba Ji, initiated an eternal flame beneath a tree at this location, which has continued to burn uninterrupted since then. In 1977, a south-facing Hanuman statue was also installed here. The temple complex features a sacred pond that never dries up. A “Sita Rasoi” or community kitchen also operates within the premises, providing free meals to all devotees and visitors.
The idea to build Mata Kaushalya Dham was proposed during a religious discourse in 2015 attended by Jagat Guru Rajendra Devacharya and other spiritual leaders. Inspired by this suggestion, construction of the temple began and is now nearing completion.
This monumental project seeks to firmly establish Chhattisgarh’s Balod district as the maternal home of Mata Kaushalya and the maternal grandmother’s home of Lord Shri Ram. The central attraction – the 7-foot statue of Mata Kaushalya holding infant Ram – is being crafted from red sandstone sourced from Rajasthan.
The temple is a unique example of community-driven development, with contributions from people across all social groups. Once completed, this grand and sacred site will earn Balod district worldwide recognition as the home of Mata Kaushalya Dham.
