Adequate Stock of NPK, SSP, and Nano DAP to Offset DAP Shortage
1,79,000 Bottles of Nano DAP Stocked in the State, Continuous Supply Ensured<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Raipur, 14 July 2025 \u2013 There is no shortage of chemical fertilizers in Chhattisgarh. For the 2025 Kharif season, all types of chemical fertilizers are available in adequate quantities at cooperative societies and private sale centers across the state. In light of reduced global imports of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate), the state government has ensured the supply and distribution of alternative chemical fertilizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To avoid any inconvenience to farmers due to reduced DAP availability, the government has stocked 1,79,000 bottles of Nano DAP, stored 25,000 metric tonnes more NPK than the target, and 50,000 metric tonnes more SSP (Single Super Phosphate) than planned. Similarly, against the target of 60,000 metric tonnes of potash, over 77,000 metric tonnes of Muriate of Potash has been stored. Nano DAP, a suitable alternative to solid DAP, is effective for seed\/bed treatment, root dipping, and foliar spray after sowing\/transplanting. Its supply is being ensured uninterruptedly by the state government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the current Kharif season, against the target of 3.10 lakh metric tonnes of DAP, more than 1.63 lakh metric tonnes have already been stocked. An additional 48,000 metric tonnes of DAP is scheduled to arrive in July. The cooperative sector has been prioritized for fertilizer storage, with 62% of the state\u2019s total DAP stock available through cooperatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the Agriculture Department, a total of 13.18 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizers have been stocked so far\u2014about 38,000 metric tonnes more than the 12.79 lakh metric tonnes stored during the same period last year. This includes surplus storage of 25,266 metric tonnes of NPK and 71,363 metric tonnes of SSP beyond their respective targets\u2014being used as alternatives to DAP. Additionally, Urea stock exceeds the target by 6 lakh metric tonnes, with more expected to arrive in July and the following months.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is noteworthy that Urea is used in paddy cultivation three times: during sowing\/transplanting, 3\u20134 weeks after for tillering, and 7\u20138 weeks after for booting stage. Therefore, Urea is used until mid-September. DAP stock currently stands at 1.63 lakh metric tonnes, and as per the July supply plan, another 48,850 metric tonnes will be received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As per the Agriculture Department, 25,000 metric tonnes of NPK are expected to be supplied in July. With this, the total additional NPK supply will reach 50,266 metric tonnes, which can substitute for 22,000 metric tonnes of DAP. Likewise, the additional SSP supply of 1.47 lakh metric tonnes can replace 50,000 metric tonnes of DAP. Thus, a total of 72,000 metric tonnes of DAP will be effectively substituted through surplus NPK and SSP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai stated that farmers need not worry about the DAP shortage. The state government has ensured the availability of alternative fertilizers like Nano DAP, NPK, and SSP. Based on recommendations from scientists at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University and Agriculture Department officials, farmers can use these alternatives to achieve better yields.
