Raipur, 09 July 2025:
Dhudmaras, a small tribal village located within the Kanger Valley National Park in Chhattisgarh\u2019s Bastar district, has now carved a niche for itself on the global map. Recognized as one of the Top 20 Best Tourism Villages in the World by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, Dhudmaras has emerged as a model for environmental conservation and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enriched with natural beauty, cultural diversity, and a traditional way of life, the village is now also moving towards self-reliance through solar energy. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, continuous efforts are being made to promote eco-friendly tourism and develop local infrastructure in the Bastar region. In Dhudmaras, various solar energy-based projects implemented by CREDA (Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency) have ensured clean drinking water, nighttime lighting, and power supply to educational institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through CREDA, three solar dual pumps have been installed in the village to ensure clean drinking water. Two solar high-mast lights have been set up to provide lighting at night. Solar-powered street lights have been installed in the village lanes. Primary and secondary schools are now powered by solar energy. These projects have been monitored and completed with quality assurance under the supervision of CREDA Chairman Mr. Bhupendra Sawanni and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Rajesh Rana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of World Tourism Day, India\u2019s Ministry of Tourism awarded both Dhudmaras and Chitrakote villages of Bastar district as Best Tourism Villages. Dhudmaras, rich in natural beauty, attracts tourists with its serene Kanger river, lush greenery, biodiversity, and traditional Bastar culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, the state government is developing trekking trails, camping sites, and homestay facilities. Traditional handicrafts are being promoted by linking local artisans and artists to markets. Road and transport infrastructure is also being strengthened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adventure activities like kayaking and bamboo rafting are being operated on the Kanger River by the local Eco-Tourism Development Committee, providing livelihood opportunities for local youth. Basic amenities such as waiting areas and toilets for tourists are being developed at the village level. The Forest and Tourism Departments of the state government are working systematically to develop Dhudmaras as a prominent eco-tourism destination. Similar eco-tourism initiatives are being promoted in villages like Nagalsar and Netanar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The success of Dhudmaras stands as a testament that with community participation and effective implementation of government schemes, economic, social, and cultural development is achievable in rural areas.
