Chhattisgarh Achieves Historic Growth in GST Collection: Tops the Nation with 18% Growth Rate<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raipur, 2 July 2025 \u2013 Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai held a review meeting today at Mahanadi Bhawan, the state secretariat, to assess the performance of the Commercial Taxes (GST) Department. He reviewed the department\u2019s activities and revenue collection in detail and instructed officials to implement effective measures to further increase tax collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister emphasized that tax revenue is crucial for the development of the state and the nation. Therefore, everyone should honestly fulfill their tax obligations. He directed that strict action be taken against those involved in GST evasion and that recovery of dues be ensured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, officials informed that in the financial year 2024\u201325, the state collected a total of \u20b923,448 crore from GST and VAT, accounting for 38% of the state\u2019s total tax revenue. Chhattisgarh recorded an 18% growth in GST collections \u2014 the highest in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finance and Commercial Taxes (GST) Minister Shri O.P. Choudhary presented departmental updates during the meeting. Chief Minister Shri Sai appreciated the department\u2019s efforts in improving GST collection and urged them to continue working diligently within legal frameworks to increase revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chief Minister also held detailed discussions with departmental officials on cases of tax evasion and strategies to address them. He issued strict directives for action against those using fake invoices, dual accounting systems, and incorrect tax rates for undue advantage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Praising the department\u2019s innovative measures, he noted that the average time for GST registration has been reduced from 13 days to just 2 days \u2014 a significant administrative improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials also shared updates on recent major actions taken by the GST department and the recovery of evaded taxes. These efforts have led to a consistent increase in the state\u2019s tax revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is noteworthy that GST offices have been established in all 33 districts of Chhattisgarh, ensuring transparent and timely services related to GST and tax collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior officials present at the meeting included Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Subodh Kumar Singh, Secretaries to the Chief Minister Shri Mukesh Kumar Bansal and Shri Rahul Bhagat, and Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Shri Pushpendra Meena, among others.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
