Raipur, June 18, 2025 \u2014<\/strong> Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai will inaugurate the statewide Charan Paduka Distribution Scheme on June 21 at a grand event to be held in Tapkara, Jashpur district. On this occasion, he will distribute Charan Padukas (footwear) to the women of tendu leaf collector families. This marks the fulfillment of yet another promise made by the Chhattisgarh government to the tendu leaf collectors of the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is noteworthy that the Chhattisgarh government had committed in its manifesto to restart the Charan Paduka Scheme, which had been discontinued by the previous government. Restarting this scheme reflects the current government\u2019s sensitivity and its commitment to ensuring the dignity and comfort of tendu leaf collector families. The government has sanctioned \u20b940 crore for implementing this initiative. It will benefit approximately 12.4 lakh women from tendu leaf collector families, who will receive the footwear free of cost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that ensuring justice and access to welfare for the last person in line is the government\u2019s top priority. He acknowledged the significant role played by tendu leaf collector families in the state’s economy and in forest-based livelihoods. “The Charan Paduka Scheme was a promise in our manifesto, and we are now fulfilling it. This is not just about distributing footwear \u2014 it is a symbol of the pride and safety of the collector families,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The launch of this scheme is a testimony to the Chhattisgarh government\u2019s commitment to respecting and addressing the needs of tendu leaf collector families. The scheme is not only meant to honor the women from these families but also to ensure their comfort while working in challenging geographical conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tendu Leaves Purchased Worth \u20b9745 Crore<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tendu leaf collection in Chhattisgarh began in the third week of April this year and has now been successfully completed. The collection was carried out at 10,631 procurement centers (phads) under 902 Primary Minor Forest Produce Cooperative Societies. Despite crop loss due to untimely rains, storms, and hailstorms, over 11.4 lakh tendu leaf collector families worked diligently to collect and sell 13.54 lakh standard sacks of tendu leaves, valued at \u20b9745 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This entire amount is being paid directly into the collectors\u2019 bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system. So far, over \u20b9300 crore has already been transferred, and the remaining amount is being processed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
