Raipur, May 7, 2025 \u2014 In the selection trials organized by the Chhattisgarh State Cricket Association, nine girls from the Government Pre-Matric Girls Hostel, Ichkela (Jashpur), showcased outstanding talent and secured spots in the Under-15 state cricket team. Additionally, six girls from the same hostel have advanced to the next round of Under-19 trials. A total of 15 girls from Ichkela have brought glory to Jashpur district with their cricketing skills.Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the cricket talent of Jashpur\u2019s daughters and extended his congratulations and best wishes. He remarked that this remarkable achievement is a matter of pride not only for Jashpur but for the entire state of Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government is fully committed to supporting the development of sports and athletes.The players selected for the Under-15 state team are: Enjeel Lakra, Jigyasa Kujur, Amisha Lakra, Ritu Bhagat, Purvanshi Sahu, Sakshi Yadav, Gayatri Bai, Abhilashi Bada, and Santoshi Bai.For the Under-19 category, Akanksha Rani, Varsha Bai, Nitika Bai, Jhoomur Tirkey, Tulsika Bhagat, and Alka Rani Kujur have advanced to the next trial round, scheduled for May 8 at 7 a.m. at RDCA Ground, Raipur.Notably, under the dedicated leadership of hostel warden Mrs. Pandari Bai, the Ichkela hostel has not only promoted sports but also empowered tribal girls to make Jashpur proud in cricket. It\u2019s worth mentioning that Pandari Bai\u2019s daughter, Akanksha Rani \u2014 from the Pahadi Korwa community \u2014 has already made her mark as a key player in Chhattisgarh\u2019s Under-19 BCCI T20 Trophy team. Akanksha\u2019s stellar performances have inspired many girls at the hostel to pursue cricket, making Ichkela a recognized name in the sport.The hostel is located in the home district of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai. Under his leadership, special attention has been given to the integrated development of education and sports in tribal regions.
